Our backcountry trail rides will give you the opportunity to ride through some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the world.
You will ride through rivers, forest, alpine meadows and mountain passes – the terrain is rugged – you will be amazed at the sure footedness of our mountain horses that have all been specifically chosen for this type of terrain.
All our trips are based from our main lodge located beside the Bull River. We cater to all riding ability’s; our horses are gentle & sure footed. Our goal is for our guests to feel safe & secure while they ride with us. Due to the nature of the rugged terrain all our trips are at a walking pace, giving the best opportunity to take in the spectacular scenery & hopefully spot some wildlife!
Half Day Trips:
We offer 2.5 hour rides with our morning ride beginning at 10.30 a.m. and the afternoon ride beginning at 3 p.m. We will cater the ride to the riding abilities of the guests, weather you are looking for a gentle ride along the river valley or something a little more advanced up a mountain range. A snack is provided after each of these rides.
Guests will meet at our main lodge by 10.30 a.m. where your guide will meet you with your horse for the day. We will ride out from the lodge gaining elevation for some beautiful views. We will stop for an open air lunch (which is provided) on the trail giving everyone a chance to relax, enjoy the view, look for wildlife or have a siesta! After lunch we will continue the ride arriving back at the lodge around 5.30p.m.
Weekend Ride & Dinner:
Friday and Saturday nights we offer a ride and dinner option. Book for either a full day ride or a half day afternoon ride and join us after for a delicious cowboy steak dinner with all the trimmings.
Have a true pioneer experience. We offer both overnight and 2 night horse back wilderness trips. As with the 1 day trip guests will meet at our main lodge by 10.30 a.m. where your horse will be waiting. We will head out from the lodge, pack horse in tow with our supplies for the trip. All meals while on the trip will be provided with a packed lunch that will be eaten along the way. When we arrive at our camp site for the night you will be served dinner cooked over the fire. We will spend the night camped out in walled tents.
For the quests that prefer some comforts of home, we can still offer this trip but instead of sleeping in tents we will return to the lodge each night for hot showers and bunk style cabins.
Those of you that are seeking the ultimate wilderness trip to explore deeper into the Canadian Rockies please inquire regarding longer pack trips and we will do what we can to cater a trip for you.
All tack and equipment required for the horses is provided and each guest is provided with saddle bags to carry necessities for each day. All guests under the age of 18 will be required to wear a helmet which we also provide. Unfortunately we are unable to cater rides for guests under the age of 8.
Guests taking part on overnight trips will be required to bring there own sleeping bag & sleeping mat.
